Bengal Governor offers lift to stranded duo
Kolkata, Oct 27 (UNI) Breaking all protocol, West Bengal Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi today offered an aged man and his daughter a lift to the airport.
As Mr Gandhi's convoy was proceeding towards the airport, where he had to catch an early morning flight, he saw the two stranded at the near empty AJC Bose Road flyover after their vehicle developed a snag.
Unveiling yet another aspect of humaneness, the Governor asked his chauffeur to offer them a lift in one of the cars.
Ironically, the duo was unaware of their august benefactor's identity. On making enquiries they immediately wanted to get down.
But the securitymen refused and took them to the airport saying they could not disobey the Govornor's instruction.
The grandson of Mahatma Gandhi had earlier too emphathised with the people of West Bengal.
A few months ago when the people were suffering hours of power cut, Mr Gandhi subjected the Raj Bhawan to two hours of loadshedding every day.
