61th Infantry Day celebrated in HP

Shimla, Oct 27 (UNI) The 61th Infantry Day was celebrated in a simple and impressive ceremony at the histrorical Annandale ground here today.

The day ia celebrated to commemorate the heroic action ib October 27, 1947 when the first Indian Army contingent was airlifted into Srinagar to defend India's sovereignty and territorial integrity from the Pakistani raiders.

On this occasion, to pay respects to the valiant infantry soldiers who had sacrificed their lives in the service of nation, a wreath laying ceremony was organised by 14 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles.

Wreaths were laid at the martyrs memorial by Major General R K Arora, MGGS Army Tranining Command on behalf of GOC-in-C Army Training Command, Brig Kahushal Thakur, YSM, Stn Cdr, Shimla and Col K S Kalsi, Commanding Officer, 14th Battalion Jammu and Kashimir Rifles.
