Villagers protest
Perambalur, Oct 26 (UNI) Vehicular traffic on the Tiruchirapalli-Chennai National Highway was paralysed for about two hours as a section of vilagers resorted to road roko agitation at Siruvachur near here today, demanding police action against a vehicle driver who fatally knocked down a 58 year-old man and fled.
Police said the deceased Alagan of Ayyakudikladu village was run over by the vehicle when he was crossing the road.
Protesting against this and demanding immediate arrest of the vehcile driver, the villages resorted to the protest.
On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and pacified the agitating villagers and restored normality.
