No casualities in Whitefield building collapse:
Bangalore, Oct 26 (UNI) The City Police today said there were no death reports in the recent partial collapse of the 15-storeyed building under construction in the IT hub Whitefield, on the outskirts of the city.
Whitefield is a IT hub which houses a number of Indian and foreign multinational IT companies. Leading global names have their facilities in the area which is to the East of the city.
Four persons were injured when the portion or the building came crashing on October 23. Some were feared trapped underneath the debris. This led to the Karnataka Lok Ayukta ordering a suo moto inquiry into the incident.
The inquiry followed the media reports suspecting casualities in the incident and an alleged coverup operation by the builders of the housing project.
Clarifying the incident, City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidiri told reporters here that preliminary investigations had revealed that there were no deaths reported in mishap. Only one of the 218 construction workers, working at the site, was missing.
