Hooda calls for laying emphasis on education
Nabha, Oct 26 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said in this era only those nations would survive and develop which would lay emphasis on educating its citizens.
Addressing the 48th Founder's Day function of Punjab Public School here, he said Haryana Government had laid emphasis on implementing a number of schemes to enhance the educational status of the people, especially, the weaker sections of the society. Haryana has declared the current year as the ''Year of Education''.
The Chief Minister said Haryana is the first State in the country to successfully implement semester system in schools. Computer education is being implemented in all schools and colleges of the state. The State Government has not only enhanced the budget of education sector, but also implemented a Rs 485 crore innovative incentive based scheme to give monthly scholarships to the students hailing from poor families.
The amount of scholarships is deposited in the bank accounts for the students right from they are admitted to school and girl students get an enhanced amount as compared to boys, he said.
This scheme had enhanced the number of admissions to schools and would also check dropout rate.
