HKHS plans to stage dharna in Delhi

Gulabarga, Oct 26 (UNI) The Hyderabad-Karnataka Horatha Samithi (HKHS) will organise a dharna in front of the Parliament in New Delhi on December 11 demanding the amendment of Article 371.

Informing this to reporters here today, HKHS President and former minister Vaijnath Patil said that as many as 500 people including Zilla Parishad Members would participate in the dharna.

"We have invited leaders of the Congress, BJP and Janata Dal(S) to participate in the agitation" Mr Patil informed.

Mr Vaijnath Patil said that the HKHS had also given a call to boycott the Rajyotsva Day (state formation) any programmes on November 1, to protest against the state government's step motherly attitude in developing the backward Hyderabad-Karnataka region.

He said that the HKHS would also organise a "Raste Roko" agitation on November 1, demanding the state and Centre to take steps to amend the Article 371 without further delay.

Mr Patil warned that if the Article 371 is not amended during the year, the HKHS would intensify its agitation for "separate statehood" for Hyderabad-Karnataka region, comprising six destricts.

"Even after five decades of formation of separate Karnataka State the H-K region is remained backward area due to nonchalant attitude of ruling parties in developing the area" he regretted.
