Governor, Jaya, Thangkabalu greet people for Deepavali

Chennai, Oct 26 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor S S Barnala and leaders of various political parties, including AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa and TNCC President K V Thangkabalu today greeted the people of the state on the eve of Deepavali, the festival of lights.

In his message, Mr Barnala conveyed his ''heartiest greetings'' and best wishes to the people of the State.

''Let Deepavali, the Festival of lights, ignite the spirit of amity, compassion, unity and love and bring in all round prosperity in the state and the nation'', he said, according to a Raj Bhavan communique.

Greeting the people of the State, Ms Jayalalithaa in her message, hoped that the festival usher in the situation to remove the darkness that had engulfed the people of the state and bring light, love, happiness and prosperity.

Mr Thangkabalu said the festival should usher in peace and communal amity at a time when the country was facing violence in the name of caste and community.

BJP Leader Su Thirunavukkarasar and Prince of Arcot Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali also conveyed their greetings to the people on the occasion.
