Police destroys banned crops in Kashmir Valley
Srinagar, Oct 26: Jammu Kashmir police and Excise department official destroyed banned crops over 100 kanals of land in the Kashmir valley.
Official sources said in their continued drive against the cultivation of banned crops, police and Excise personnel conducted raids in different areas in Ganderbal district following a tip-off that some farmers were cultivating cannabis.
During the raids, they destroyed the banned crops cultivated over 100 kanals of land.
Cases had been registered against the land owners under different acts, sources said adding no one was however, arrested.
Police and Excise officials have destroyed banned crops over thousands of kanals of land in Pulwama and Anantnag district during the past six months. About a dozen smugglers have also been arrested during the period.
