8 IM suspects submit statement in MCOCA court
Mumbai, Oct 26 (UNI) Eight suspects of Indian Mujahideen (IM), who were arrested for their alleged role in the recent bomb blasts in various parts of the country, have submitted their statement before a special court.
Defence advocate Subhas Kanse, representing Mohammed Mansoor Asgar Peerboy, one of the accused, today told UNI that on the last occasion, eight suspects of the IM had submitted a sealed letter, which was reported to be their confessional statement.
Mr Kanse, however, said he is not aware about the contents of the letter, as it was submitted in the court in a sealed the envelope.
After submitting the letter, the special judge had called Peerboy in the witness box and asked whether he was aware about the contents of the letter. He replied affirmatively saying he himself wrote it.
Thereafter, the special court sealed envelope again and kept it in its custody.
The accused are also suspected to have sent an e-mail to a media house prior to September 13 Delhi blasts.
The suspects, who have submitted their statement are Afzal Mutalib Usmani, Sadik Shaikh, Mohammed Arif Shaikh, Mohammed Zakir Shaikh, Ansar Ahmed Shaikh, Asif Basir Shaikh, Mohammed Mansoor Asgar Peerboy and Mobin alias Salman Shaikh.
Mr Kanse said presently these accused are in the custody of crime branch Chembur for interrogation in Delhi blasts.
