2 killed, 5 badly hurt in cracker explosion

Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Oct 26 (UNI) Two women were killed while five others suffered severe burns when crackers stored in a manufacturing unit in Vetlapalem, 40 kms from here, exploded today.

While a woman was charred to death on the spot, another woman was declared brought dead by the doctors at the Kakinada Government General Hospital.

The condition of five others, all women, continues to be critical. East Godavari Superintendent of Police Y Nagireddy said under the impact of explosion two pucca buildings that housed the cracker manufacturing units got badly damaged.

The deceased have been identified as Madasi Lakshmi (53) and Samireddi Lakshmi (36).

A case has been registered by the Samalkot police.
