Special Squad takes Faizal into custody

Kannur, Oct 25 (UNI) Special squad police today took one Faizal into custody near Thazhe Chowa.

Edakkad police arrested Faizal (24) of Markar Kandi following through a tip-off from Fayaz's mother Safiya.

Fayaz was killed in a police encounter at Kashmir on October seven. His mother Safiya informed to Kannur Police that Faizal was taken away by Fayaz by offering a job at Bangalore on Spetember 10.

Faizal informed later that Fayaz had gone to Ahmedabad for Khuran studies.

Safiya today reached the Edakkad police station and identify Faizal.

Kannur Superintendent of Police (SP) S Sreejith said Faizal was the main recruiting agent of militants. Faizal was an owner of Chicken stall at Markar Kandyu near the city upto last year. He closed the chicken stall due to a bomb explosion in 2007.

Special Squad and SP Sreejith were investigating the case.

Special Squad also sought from Thalassery Additional Chief Magistrate, the police custody of Abdul Jaleel of Edakkad, who was arrested by police on October 18, in connection with the links with the militants.

Thalassery magistrate would consider their petition on October 28.

After receiving Abdul Jaleel into Police custody, a joint investigation and questioning with Faizal would reveal more information, police said.

Six more suspected people were under custody in the special squad in Kannur district, police added.
