Rice at Rs 20 a kg a hoax:Lok Satta
Hyderabad, Oct 25 (UNI) Terming Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister K Rosaiah's claim, that superfine rice is available in the market at Rs 20 a kg, as ''hoax'', the Lok Satta party today alleged that the Minister was covering up the ground realities.
In a statement, party spokesmen K Srinivasa Rao and B Krishna Reddy claimed that Lok Satta activists, who went around Rythu bazaars and retail stores at several places in the city, found that good quality rice was being sold at Rs 25 to Rs 28 a kg.
Dealers stopped selling sona masuri rice as the government directed them not to sell rice of that quality at a price exceeding Rs 20 a kg, they said and added therefore, the dealers had started selling other superfine varieties at Rs 25 and Rs 28 a kg.
The spokesmen demanded Mr Rosaiah to take responsibility for misleading the public.
