Ramadoss urges release of Vaiko, Kanappan and film Directors
Chennai, Oct 25 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder-leader S Ramadoss today urged the ruling DMK government to reconsider its decision on the arrest of MDMK leaders Vaiko and M Kannappan, and two Tamil film directors on charges of sedition and for speaking in support of the banned LTTE.
In a statement here, the PMK leader, who is at the forefront in voicing concern over the plight of Sri Lankan Tamils, said making emotional speeches, protsting against the attack on the Lankan Tamils was different from acts to jeopordaise the soverignty of the nation. The government should review the arrest of the politicians and film artistes.
He said film directors Seeman and Ameer, while addressing a rally in Rameswaram, organised in support of the Lankan Tamils, made an emotional speech, upset by the sufferings of the Tamils in the island.
As the duo had no political leanings and made it clear that they were committed to India's soverignty and integrity, the DMK government should take note of their statement and reconsider their arrest, Dr Ramadoss said.
Similarly, the MDMK General secretary Vaiko and party Presidium Chairman M Kannappan made emotional speeches at a public meeting, while talking on ''What is happening in Sri Lanka'' and the government should reconsider their arrest also, he said.
