Mah Govt prepares proposal for marginal farmers

Sangli, Maharashtra, Oct 25 (UNI) Maharashtra Co-operative and Rehabilation Minister Patangrao Kadam today said the state government has prepared a proposal to cover all those farmers who were not included in the Union Government loan waiver scheme.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Kadam said under the Union Government's loan waiver package, benefits worth about Rs 8,000 crore were disbursed among the state farmers. However, marginal farmers dependent on lift irrigation and ancillary businesses such as dairy, poultry and fishing were not included. Now, they will be covered under this proposal.

The plan will be tabled in the coming state cabinet meeting for final decision, he said.

Earlier, speaking at a function after performing 'puja' of Rs 2.5 crore worth road construction work at Palus, Mr Kadam said this work is part of the project undertaken by the Public Works Depratment (PWD), for which it had made a budgetary provision of about Rs seven crore. The roads will be constructed in Palus and Kadegaon tehsils of the district, he added.
