Govt schools remain closed for fourth day

Hyderabd, Oct 25 (UNI) Government schools all over Andhra Pradesh remained closed for the fourth day today as the statewide strike by the Joint Action Committee of Teachers' Organisations (JACTO) to press their demands, continued.

As part of their agitation, the teachers organisations lay sieze to Collectorates all over the state. The police lathicharged the protesting teachers, who tried to gate crash the collectorates in some districts.

Rallies were conducted in mandal headquarters all over the state and the agitators met leaders of various political parties to seek support for their strike.

Their demands included unified service rules, promotions to teachers and apprentice rules.
