K'taka: 21 firms levied hefty penalty for power theft
Bangalore, Oct 25: Karnataka Power Transmission Ltd and ESCOMS have slapped a hefty penalty on 21 firms amounting to more than Rs 70 lakh for indulging in theft and pilferage. A press release said on Saturday, Oct 25 that a steel rolling mill in Belgaum was imposed a heavy fine of Rs 40 lakh for power theft last night and a criminal case also been registered against them.
A Mysore firm which deals in flush Door Manufacturing unit and a construction company were fined Rs 4,83 718 and Rs 2,85 800 respectively for committing irregularities in usage of power.
