''Rose ''and ''Rakhi'' for two wheeler riders in Orissa
Bhubaneswar, Oct 24 (UNI) The two-wheeler riders in the Capital city wearing helmets were greeted with roses, while those without the protective head coverings had to accept 'rakhis'.
The Orissa Police took a leaf from the Bollywood blockbuster ''Munna Bhai MBBS'' to educate people to wear helmet while riding on a two-wheeler.
Police also roped in some actresses and actors from Oriya album industry to preach the benefits of wearing helmets to the riders, as their effort to slap fines and file cases failed to yield any significant results.
In all major traffic intersections, while the girls were seen tying rakhis to the male two-wheeler riders for not wearing a helmet, the people riding with the protecting head coverings were offered a red rose with a smile.
Similarly, the female two-wheeler riders with helmet were greeted with a rose by a member of the opposite sex. Otherwise, a chocolate was offered to them.
The students of the Magnus school of business management assisted the police towards implementating the novel idea.
''It will continue for a couple of days more,'' Bhubaneswar DCP Himanshu Lal informed.
