Measures to check transportation of explosives in trains
Vijayawada, Oct 24 (UNI) The Vijayawada division of South Central Railway (SCR) has taken up intensive measures to check any illegal transportation of explosives and crackers in trains.
Talking to newspersons here today, Additional Divisional Railway Manager M Sarajana Rao said special teams were formed with Railway Protection Force (RPF) to inspect the trains at the rail station here in perticular and also in the divisions.
Mr Rao said the special teams would inspect the bogies of all trains and if necessary luggage of the passengers.
He was monitoring the movements of these teams and collecting their regular inspection reports, he added.
The Indian Railways had identified 185 stations as sensitive. The Railway Board had issued instructions to all Divisional Railway Managers to be vigilant on the illegal transportation of explosives, he said.
Mr Rao said the Railway Ministry had launched ''Integrated Security System at Railway Stations'' scheme. Under the scheme, the railways would install more CC TVs at all the identified sensitive stations, he added.
The Ministry had also decided to provide explosive detection and disposal equipments to RPF staffs at all important stations, he added.
