HLL launches contraceptive pill in South America

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 24 (UNI) The Hindustan Latex (HLL), country's premier manufacturer of contraceptives and various healthcare products, has launched a non-steroidal, once-a-week, oral contraceptive pill in Peru in South America.

HLL sources said here today the company would also be extending the marketing of this pill and its other contraceptive range in several other countries in the region in the coming months.

The 'user-friendly' pill is being marketed in Peru under the brand name 'Ivyfemme', which in Spanish denotes 'friendship flower'.

The pill does not have the disadvantages that accompany steroidal pills, such as nausea and weight gain, the sources claimed.

At a function held at the capital city Lima, HLL Chairman and Managing Director M Ayyappan handed over the first pack of 'Ivyfemme' to Mr Luis Castallo, Managing Director, Interamericas, the distributors for this product in Peru.

The launch of 'Ivyfemme' will widen the basket of choice for the women in South America in the area of contraception and spacing child birth.
