Custom House Agents Assn supports Volvo race stopover

Kochi, Oct 24 (UNI) Cochin Custom House Agents Association has contributed Rs 25 lakhs to Cochin Port Trust (CPT) to support the port for facilitating the stopover of Volvo Ocean Race from December three to 13 here.

Association President C P Xavier handed over the cheque to CPT Chairman N Ramachandran today, according to an official release.

As Willingdon Island would be in the limelight in the media during the stopover of the Volvo Ocean Race, CPT is upgrading the public spaces and infrastructure at the north end of the island with support from its stakeholders.

This modernization drive includes widening of important roads, pedestrian friendly pavements, signage system, beautification of boat jetties, parking area for a large number of trucks and other vehicles.
