86 year-old Woman died in house collapse
Mysore, Oct 24 (UNI) In a tragic incident, a 86 year-old woman was killed on the spot while asleep when roof of her house collapsed due to copious rain which lashed the city last night.
Police said that Ms Annamari was found dead when her house at N R Mohalla collapsed in the early hours today.
The entire locality was in a low lying area and completely submerged with water. Neighbours who rushed to the spot on hearing the house collapse, struggled to remove her from the debris alive but in vain.
City Mayor Ayub Khan visited the spot and said there were about 500 small houses belonging to the weaker sections in the locality.
He said that one house under Gruha Bhagya Scheme would be allotted to the family. He would also recommend to the Deputy Commissioner to give adequate compensation to the kin of the deceased Meanwhile, the city witnessed heavy rains effecting the normal life at various places following drain water entering the houses in the low-laying areas.
