Steps to check infiltration at India-China border
New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) The Government is making efforts to build infrastructural facilities on its side of the India-China border in order to check cases of incursion across the Line of Actual control into the Inbdian side, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee told the Rajya Sabha today.
In a reply during Question Hour, the Minister said, "thirteen operational roads are being constructed on our side of the border, work on which will be complete by 2012." On the Chinese incursions into the Indian side, Mr Mukherjee said the Government regularly takes up any violation along the LAC with the Chinese side through established mechanisms including the joint working group, the expert group, border personnel meetings, flag meetings and diplomatic channels.
Admitting
that
there
were
disputes
between
the
two
sides
on
the
International
boundary
between
India
and
China,
the
Minister
said,
"however,
since
1993,
the
two
Governments
have
agreed
to
maintain
peace
and
tranquility
along
the
LAC
in
the
India-China
border
areas
without
prejudice
to
their
respective
positions
on
the
alignment
of
the
line
of
actual
control
as
well
as
on
the
boundary
question."
