Steps to check infiltration at India-China border

New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) The Government is making efforts to build infrastructural facilities on its side of the India-China border in order to check cases of incursion across the Line of Actual control into the Inbdian side, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee told the Rajya Sabha today.

In a reply during Question Hour, the Minister said, "thirteen operational roads are being constructed on our side of the border, work on which will be complete by 2012." On the Chinese incursions into the Indian side, Mr Mukherjee said the Government regularly takes up any violation along the LAC with the Chinese side through established mechanisms including the joint working group, the expert group, border personnel meetings, flag meetings and diplomatic channels.

Admitting that there were disputes between the two sides on the International boundary between India and China, the Minister said, "however, since 1993, the two Governments have agreed to maintain peace and tranquility along the LAC in the India-China border areas without prejudice to their respective positions on the alignment of the line of actual control as well as on the boundary question."
