One naxalite killed in encounter

Gaya, Oct 23 (UNI) One naxlite was killed during an encounter with the police at forest area of Kamaldhara village under Gurua police Station in the district today.

District Police Superintendent R Mallar Viz said here that acting on a tip-off, a team of local police raided the forest area of Kamaldhara village where some proscribed CPI(Maoist)activists were busy finalising the strategies for their attacks.

'' As the police approached near the hideout of maoist guerillas, they opened fire on them,'' she said adding one naxalite was killed in the ensuing encounter when the police retaliated in self defence.

Reinforcement had been rushed to the spot for massive combing operation in the area to nab the naxalites who managed to escape from there during the encounter, she added.
