Notification for bypoll in Panchayats issued

Chandigarh, Oct 23 (UNI) Haryana State Election Commissioner has issued notification for the conduct of byelections to fill up the vacant seats of panches, sarpanches of Gram Panchayats and Members of Panchayat Samitis, which have fallen vacant due to death and resignation in various districts.

The bypoll will be held in Ambala, Bhiwani, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Hisar, Jhajjar, Jind, Kaithal, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Mahendragarh, Mewat, Palwal, Panchkula, Panipat, Rewari, Rohtak, Sirsa, Sonepat and Yamunanagar districts.

Stating this here today, State Election Commissioner Chander Singh said the wardwise draft lists of voters of the gram panchayats and panchayat samitis would be prepared from November 4 to 10, 2008 and these would be published on November 11, 2008.

The claims and objections of the people would be received by November 17 and these would be disposed of by the District Electoral Officer (Panchayat) by November 2008. The final list would be published on November 25, he added.
