National Conference kick starts campaign in JK
Budgam, Oct 23: National Conference(NC) party of Jammu Kashmir kick-started its election campaign ahead of the seven-phase polls from Nov 17 to Dec 24.
Party chief Omar Abdullah questioned the credibility of his main rivals, the Congress and the People's Democratic Party (PDP), which shared power to face voters again. "We are essentially fighting this election as an opposition party. The last parties in the government were the Congress and the PDP. Therefore, they'll have to be made to explain an account of their track record of the last six years," Abdullah told a rally in Budgam.
The second phase of elections will be held on Nov 23 and third phase will take place on Nov 30. The fourth phase will take place on December 7 while the fifth, sixth and seventh phases will be held on Dec 13, 17 and 24 respectively.
Counting of votes will be held on Dec 28. There are a total of 8109 polling stations in the state.
