Maosist attack:top Kolkata officials begin inquiry

West Midnapur, Oct 23 (UNI) A top level team from Kolkata today visited Simulpal under Belpahari PS where three people were killed yesterday in a landmine explosion triggered by Maoists.

The team comprised Kuldeep Singh IG (Western Range), Siddhilal Gupta, DIG CID, DIG (Midnapur Range) Parveen Kumar, District Magistrate N S Nigam, SP West Midnapur District Rajesh Singha and Chief Medical Officer Kamal Kumar Basu.

Two persons from the Jharkhand border were arrested earlier in the day in connection with the incident, the SP said.

Dr Dhaniram Mandi, a nurse and the driver were cremated in their villages under strict police vigilance.

The inquiry team from Kolkata collected data relating to yesterday's incident. The members said they will analyse the data in Kolkata.

Meanwhile, the SDO Jhargram said henceforth mobile health teams would not be sent in the remotest areas of the subdivision without arranging for proper security.
