HP to recommend Kangra for NIFT
Shimla, Oct 23 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Government would be recommending the central government to set up National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Kangra District.
This was stated by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal while reviewing the activities of the department of Technical Education and Vocational Training and SCVT here today.
"Vocational training is being accorded top priority with a view to equip the educated youth with vocational skills which could provide them employment and self-employment avenues in public and private sectors, " the Chief Minister said.
He said that all the assembly segments had been provided atleast one industrial training institute so that rural youth could also avail of such facilities near to their homes.
The State Government would consider constitution of Sub committee to advise the Government over the future policy to be adopted for new courses in SCVT institutions.
Emphasising the need to determine the student teacher ratio which could help students avail of best training facilities, he said that every vocational institution needed to be provided with adequate teaching staff and the same condition needed to be imposed upon the institutions in private sectors also.
The Chief Minister said that possibilities also needed to be explored to requisition services of the retired teachers on lecture basis so that there was no gap in teaching. The student intake also needed to be modified as per the market demand, he added.
Mr Dhumal emphasised the need to rope in industrial houses to teach and train the students in emerging trades. He said that possibilities needed to be explored to arrange in house training to the students in different trades.
