'BJP Govt facing financial crisis in Karnataka'
Mysore, Oct 23: Former Karnataka Minister and senior Congress leader H Vishwanath today alleged that the BJP led government in the State is facing severe financial crisis and hence not releasing funds for developmental works.
Speaking to presspersons here, he said the budget allocations to various development works has only remained on paper, there was no funds to release for taking works as promises by the Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to the people of the state.
Mr Vishwanath demanded the government to come out with demand and supply of fertiliser to the farmers since as many as 13 districts in Northern Karnataka are facing shortage. Not a single bag of fertiliser stock with the government. It should also come out with details on how much fertilisers received from the centre and supplied to the farmers in the state so far.
Referring to the proposed toll collection on imporant roads in the state, he said that the road works have done to help the people and it was used by them and there was no point in collecting the tax when the work was done by the government itself. The idea should be dropped immediately.
On the proposed Congress and JD(S) alliance to fight Assembly byelection due in the State, Mr Vishwanath said that Congress can fight the elections alone. However it was left the party high command on this issue.
