Heavy rain cripples life in Chennai
Chennai, Oct 23: Normal life in the Chennai city is disrupted badly by the heavy rains over the past two days. The torrential rain is due to a low pressure in the Bay of Bengal. Rains have lashed parts of coastal India including Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Lakshwadeep apart from Tamil Nadu.
"It's raining heavily and so we could not go to college. There is no electricity. If the rain stops, we will be able to get on with our routine life," said Karthick, a resident. The state's meteorological department said the condition would remain the same for some more time.
"As far as the forecast of the next 24 hours is concerned, it is likely to rain most places of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. One and two places will experience heavy rainfall. As far as Chennai city is concerned, it will be intermittent spells, heavy at times," said Ramanan, director metrological department.
