AP CM asks officials to expedite ration cards

Hyderabad, Oct 23 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today directed the Civil Supplies Department to expedite distribution of fresh ration cards using Iris method and making it fool proof.

After reviewing the progress of distribution of ration cards and conversion of pink cards into white cards, as per the guidelines issued, Dr Reddy asked the department to complete the work expeditiously and to sort out the technical and administrative problems by coordinating with the districts.

The Chief Minister also directed the Civil Supplies and Information Technology Departments to complete the Iris project within three months. Technical standards should be maintained while providing the cards so that the project could be projected as a role model for others, he added.

Stating that ration cards should be useful to the people as a social security card, and keeping this in mind, he directed the Civil Supplies Department to facilitate the process for people.
