Winter session violates Assembly rules: AIADMK
Puducherry, Oct 23: AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazhagan, MLA, alleged that the one-day Winter Session of the Territorial Assembly was conducted by violating the Puducherry Legislative Assembly Conduct and Business Rules, 1966.
Addressing the press here, Mr Anbazhagan said the administration converted the private member resolution tabled by DMK, MDMK and PMK members, into a government resolution, which was not included in the list of business.
Moreover, the resolution contained remarks criticising the Union Government for providing arms to Sri Lanka.
Chief Minister V Vaithilingam, while doing so and getting the resolution passed, failed to oppose the wordings of the members though the content did not figure in the government resolution.
A debate was also not allowed on the subject, he claimed, adding this was taken up only to please the supporting parties, including those supporting the LTTE.This need to be condemned strongly, he said.
Mr Anbazhagan also accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi of concentrating on organising human chain to divert the attention of the people from other serious issues such as power tariff hike prevailing in the state.
He also urged the administration to take immediate steps to provide the announced bonus to the unorganised sector labourers and textile workers here and pending wages to women self-help groups who were engaged in clearing garbage.
