Puducherry: Police held one person for trying to kill VAO

Puducherry, Oct 23: Police on Thursday, Oct 23 arrested a person on the charges of attempting to kill a Village Administrative Officer (VAO), who tried to prevent the sand smuggling from river Sankarabharani at Suthukkeni, near here.

On a tip off, Katterikuppam VAO Jawhar and Pudukuppam VAO Murugan last night went to Suthukkeni to check the sand smuggling.

Dhanasekeran of Suthukkeni, who was loading sand in his tractor and his men had an altercation with the VAOs.

Later, he dumped the sand back in the river and drove his tractor.

the hit Jawhar from behind causing injuries to him and fled the scene. Jawhar was admitted to private hospital.

On a complaint, Katterikuppam police registered a case and arrested Dhanasekeran.
