Extra forces to be deployed during Kashmir elections

Srinagar, October 22, 2008 : Additional security forces will be deployed during the forthcoming seven-phase provincial election in Kashmir. The polling, which will take place from November 17 to December 24, will end months of federal rule in the disputed region.

The state's legislative assembly was dissolved on July 10 this year. The state was placed under Governor's rule, after the Congress party-led coalition fell in July this year over a Hindu land transfer row.
