Train services disrupted over attack on Bihari students
Darbhanga, Oct 21 (UNI) Agitated over the thrashing of some Bihari students in Mumbai, local people today squatted on railway tracks near Donar Chowk on Darbhanga-Samastipur section of Samastipur division, disrupting the movement of trains on the route.
Official sources said the agitators were protesting the assault of Bihari students in Mumbai recently where they had gone to appear in competitive exams conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board.
''The agitated locals were demanding stringent action against Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray and president of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Raj Thackeray who had instigated anti-social elements to attack Bihari students in Mumbai,'' the sources said.
The schedule of several long distance and passenger trains was affected by the agitation.
The blockade was, however, lifted following intervention by railway officials and local police.
