PRTC employees on strike, operation of buses affected

Puducherry, Oct 22 (UNI) The operations of the Puducherry Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) buses came to a standstill as the employees and workers went on an indefinite strike from today.

Demanding that the sixth pay commission recommendations be implemented immediately to them and to revise the wages of daily-rated employees, they formed a joint action committee.

They organised agitations after giving notice to the corporation for the indefinite strike.

Accordingly, they stayed away from work and staged a demonstration in front of the Corporation Head Office behind the new bus stand.

Following the stir none of the 75 buses, including 25 town buses, could not be operated.

The corporation was taking steps to reimburse the ticket already booked for inter-state buses.
