Gold, Silver open low due to sluggish demand
Mumbai, Oct 22: Values of precious metals fell in the opening session on Wednesday, Oct 22, with gold dwindling by Rs 295 per ten gm and silver by just Rs 10 per kg, from their last finish following sluggish demand from ornament makers, traders in the Bombay Bullion Association said. Silver was quoted at Rs 18,040 per kg, while gold at Rs 12,230 per ten gm.
In Asian markets, a mixed trend was seen as gold was down to USD 761/762 (788/789) an ounce, while silver improved slightly at USD 9.93/9.94 (9.80/9.81) per troy ounce from their last levels. Following were the opening domestic spot rates: Silver (per kg) 999 fineness grade: Rs 18,040 Gold (per 10 gm): 99.5 purity standard mint: Rs 12,230 99.9 purity pure gold: Rs 12,290.
