Moon odyssey is reality, Chandrayaan in orbit
Sriharikota, Oct 22 (UNI) India's maiden unmanned space odyssey to the moon today became a reality with the PSLV-C11 successfully placing the 1,400 kg Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft in the highly elliptical Initial Orbit.
From the Initial Orbit, Chandrayaan's orbit will be further raised to ensure that it reached the 100-km height from the lunar surface in another 15 days planting the Indian flag on the moon.
India will become the sixth country in the world to do so after Russia, US, European Space Agency,Japan and China.
