LTTE sea suicide attack foiled: Sri Lanka Navy
Colombo, Oct 22: Two explosive-laden boats of LTTE was destroyed by the Sri Lankan navy on Tuesday, Oct 21. The rebel boats were trying to crash into two cargo ships sailing to the country's troubled north. D K P Dassanayake, the Navy spokesman said, "the boats approached the ships early Wednesday, Oct 21 off the shores of Myliddi in the northern Jaffna peninsula."
Sailors guarding the ships fired at the boats, destroying two, and captured one them, he added. Reports suggest atleast one rebel died in the apparent suicide attack. There was no reports of casualities on Lankan navy side but one navy ship was reportedly damaged when one of the rebel boats exploded.
