TN: Lankan resident held for fake passport

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 22: The Immigration Authorities at the airport arrested a Sri Lankan national on Wednesday, Oct 22 while trying to board for London by the Emirates Airlines with a fake British passport. According to immigration officials, the man was identified as Sadgunapalan (35), a native of Vadukkottai, near Jaffna in Sri Lanka.

The Immigration Authorities said some discrepancies were noticed in the passport and during a thorough check it was found that the British passport was fake. The officials told sources that Sadgunapalan was trying to illegally migrate to London by the fake British passport.

During preliminary investigation it was found that he had no connection with the banned Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

However, interrogation was still going on, the officials said adding that he would be handed over to the police later.
