Kochi Airport releases winter schedule

Nedumbassery, Kerala, Oct 22 (UNI) Releasing the Winter Schedule-2008, Kochi International Airport continued to clock steady growth, registering five per cent increase in flight-landings when the entire Civil Aviation Industry faced recession globally.

The Winter Schedule-2008 will be operational from October 26, with 414 landings per week.

The international sector will witness 204 landings against 202 landings during Summer Schedule ending October and domestic sector will witness 210 landings against 197 landings in Summer Schedule in Kochi International Airport per week in the Winter Schedule, said Airport Director ACK Nair.

Kingfisher Airlines have introduced a new flight Hyderabad-COK-Hyderabad in the evenings.

In the international sector, Emirates Airline will increase four services (from 10 flights to 14 flights), Jazeera Airways will enhance two services (from two to four flights) and Etihad Airways will increase two services (from five to seven flights) in the new Winter Schedule. Tiger Airways and Mahan Air will re-commence their operation The airport will be well connected to New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Goa, Mangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Agatti Kozhikode and Thirvananthapuram in the domestic sector, he said.

The Winter Schedule had been finalized after detailed discussions with all airlines and agencies operating in Kochi Airport to cope with the re-carpeting work of the runway scheduled to begin on November 11.

The work which would be carried out from 1000 hrs to 1800 hrs, is likely to be completed on May ten 2009.
