Former minister convicted in DA case
Gangtok, Oct 22 (UNI) Former industries minister Padam Lall Gurung was today convicted in a disproportionate asset case by a lower court.
Sessions and District Court (North and East) Judge S W Lepcha held the former minister guilty in a vigilance case for amassing assets worth Rs 33.02 lakhs disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The quantum of sentence will be announced tomorrow, Justice Lepcha said in an open court proceedings while pronouncing the judgment.
Gurung is a two time minister from 1984 to 1994 during the Nar Bahadur Bhandari regime. He was under State Vigilance scanner since 1985.
