ECI directive on development work in MP
Bhopal, Oct 22 (UNI) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed that no fresh development work can be undertaken in Madhya Pradesh till completion of the assembly election process.
MLAs and MPs would also not be allowed to release money from their development funds. Officials of the General Administration Department and other officials concerned have been intimated in this connection. These instructions would remain in force till winding up of all poll-related work, an official release said here today.
Mobilising or releasing funds for new development work would be construed as gross violation of the Model Code of Conduct. MLAs and MPs have also been brought under the purview of these instructions.
It was made clear that they would not be allowed to release fresh funds for ongoing work.
Such fresh development work would also not be allowed to commence whose work order has been released earlier but actual work has not started on the proposed site. However, work that got underway before announcement of the Model Code of Conduct could be continued.
There would also be no bar on payment for work already completed before ECI orders. However, payment can be made only after concerning officers are satisfied, the release added.
