Administration geared up for Guru-Di-Gaddi celebrations
Nanded, Oct 22 (UNI) All governmental departments and private agencies have geared up to provide the necessary amenities to the devotees arriving for the Guru-Di-Gaddi celebrations.
Along with the 42 traditional langars (free community meals), thousands of private hotels and eateries are ready to serve the devotees.
Precaution is being taken by the Department of Prevention of Food and Drug Aulteration to avoid food poisoning. For this purpose, the department has constituted 12 squads, consisting of 76 inspectors and articles required to collect the samples have been provided.
On behalf of the department, instructions have been issued regarding care to be taken during preservation of food and milk products. The samples of food and milk will be collected from all langars, hotels, permit rooms, restaurants, cafeterias of bus and railway stations, canteens of all offices and other eateries and they will be tested.
The quality of the medicines to be provided free of cost by voluntary organisations during the celebration will also be checked.
Action will be taken if there is illegal storage of medicines. The samples collected will be tested at the government laboratory and its report will be submitted to the Sachkhand Gurudwara administration for necessary action against the defaulters within its premises and action will be taken against the others by the department. Eight squads, under the supervision of the two commissioners, especially for the langars and four squads for VIPs eateries have been constituted.
To avoid inconvenience likely to occur to the langars, the district administration has maintained the supply of 150 cylinders of LPG, 25,000 litres of kerosene and 8,000 liters of milk every day. To meet the demand for fuel, the administration had submitted its requirement of 24,000 LPG cylinders, of which 8,000 cylinders are being provided each by the HPC, the IOC and the BPL.
The district supply officer Dr Anil Ramod said that fuel and milk is being provided to the langars immediately after the demand was placed.
According to schedule of the various programmes to be conducted during the celebration, the Takhat Sanan (holy bath to the seat of authority) will be held on October 27, Halla Bol (mock attack) will be held on October 29, procession of palenquin carrying Guru Grantha Sahib and Guru di Gaddi Shaba Kirtan will be held on October 30, Parlokgaman Kirtan (leaving for abode by the Guru) will be held on November 3 and again procession of the palenquin and Nagar Kirtan will be held on November 4.
