Woman files FIR against husband for marriage of minor son

Fatehgarh Sahib, Oct 21 (UNI) A man has been booked for the marriage of his underage son on the complaint of his wife, who was opposed to the illegal wedlock but failed to stall it despite her best efforts.

The Khamano police has registered a case against the boy Kuldeep Ram's father Balbir Singh, a resident of Sanghol (Khamano) under various sections of Child Marriage Restraint Act, 1929.

The case was registered on the complaint by the boy's mother Jeeto, who said the marriage of her minor son was held against her wishes.

However, according to Jeeto, though she had approached the police and other officials much before the marriage of her 16-year-old son, no action was taken to stop the wedding which was held on October 1.

She had even called the mediapersons on the day of the marriage, but the relatives tried to hide the ''real groom'' and presented another boy before media persons, she said.

When contacted, a senior police official claimed that the delay was due to lack of proof that the boy was minor.

Sanghol police post incharge ASI Gurpartap Singh confirmed registration of the case against the woman's husband.
