Tributes paid to police martyrs in Indore
Indore, Oct 21: On Tuesday, Oct 21 a police parade was organised at the Central School of Weapons and Tactics (CSWT) here in the memory of police martyrs on the occasion of 'Shahid Smriti Diwas'.
Central police forces, paramilitary forces and other police organisations paid tributes to police personnel who laid their life in discharge of their duties in the past one year.
Deputy Inspector General (Border Security Force) R S Rathod, Commandant (Training) Mukul Srivastava and other officials paid tributes to martyrs on the occasion.
Deputy Commandant Pradeep Tripathi said 683 police personnel, including 75 BSF personnel, had died while discharging their duties in the past one year.
He informed that 10 CRPF jawans were killed during an encounter between 20 CRPF jawans led by their Deputy Superintendent of Police Karam Singh and Chinese troops at Hot Spring in Leh Ladhak on October 21, 1959.
Since then, October 21 has been observed as 'Police Smriti Diwas' every year.
