Tributes paid to CRPF jawans

Jagdalpur, CG, Oct 21 (UNI) Tributes were paid to 12 CRPF jawans, who were killed during an encounter with Naxalites at Pongpalli near Modakpal, about 15 km from Bijapur district headquarters yesterday, at CRPF headquarters here today.

Director General (CRPF) V K Josi, Inspector General A R Maheshwari, other senior officials, CRPF jawans, who were injured during the incident, and local citizens were also present.

Police said bodies of martyred jawans were brought to CRPF headquarters here today. Injured jawans came from hospital to pay their tributes. Later, the bodies of the martyred jawans were sent to their native villages.

Naxals had ambushed a patrol party at Pongpalli near Modakpal, about 15 km from Bijapur district headquarters yesterday.
