Raj Thackeray's attempts to stir regionalism wrong: Rahul

Srinagar, Garhwal, Oct 21 (UNI) Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today condemned MNS Chief Raj Thackeray's attempts to stir up regionalism in Maharashtra and said this was not a good thing to do.

Talking to students at the HNB Garhwal University in Srinagar here, Mr Gandhi deplored attempts by the MNS chief to carry out politics on the basis of casteism and regionalism.

Stating that the nation was secular, Mr Gandhi said people from all castes and communities had the right to live together.

To a question on Afzal Guru, Mr Gandhi said judicial matters took a long time but justice was always delivered.

Giving his personal example, he said the verdict in his grandmother Indira Gandhi's case was pronounced after eight years while his father. Rajiv Gandhi's murder case was delivered after 17 long years.

'' Matters of the judiciary should not be linked with politics,'' he said.
