Mysore: Chikkamadu want LADF to be release

Mysuru, Oct 21: Taking serious exception on the failure of the State Government to release the Local Area Development Fund (LDAF) for MLCs this year, Janata Dal (Secular) MLC Chikkamadu has threatened to organise a protest against the B S Yeddyurappa-led Government.

Speaking at a press conference in Mysore on Monday, Oct 21 Mr. Chikkamadu said all MLCs, cutting across party lines, were incensed over the State Government"s failure to sanction the Local Area Development Fund of Rs. 1 crore. We will be organising a protest shortly against the Government,' he said.

He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party Government of discriminating against the MLCs with respect to the Local Area Development Fund. 'When the Government has sanctioned the required funds for MLAs, there is no reason why MLCs should be discriminated against,' he said.

The previous governments, too, had sanctioned the Local Area Development Fund for MLCs. Similiarly, the Union Government sanctions Member of Parliaments" Local Area Development (MPLAD) funds uniformly to Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members, he pointed out.
Against toll

Mr. Chikkamadu also criticised the State Government"s recent decision to collect toll from motorists using the State highway, with effect from January 1, 2009.

"How can the Government take a unilateral decision on collecting toll from motorists using the State highways, ? The Government"s sudden decision, without eliciting public opinion on the matter, will inconvenience and burden a large number of motorists. The Government should cancel its decision," he said.
