Manipur: Implementation of 6th CPC demanded
Imphal, Oct 21: The Manipur government employees have demanded implementation of the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission, 2008, as enjoyed by other state and Central government employees.
President of the Joint Administrative Council of All Manipur Trade Union Congress and All Manipur Government Employees Organisation K Madhumangol said the government employees had submitted a charter of demands.
The employees also threatened to launch a stir after Diwali and Ningol Chakkouba festivals if their demands were not met.
''Besides, the merger of 50 per cent DA/DR with Basic Pay/Pension should be effected,'' the JAC demanded.
''The died-in-harness scheme should be re-introduced in the state. Fixation of Minimum Wages based on the Consumer's Price Index, 2007, and payment of arrears and Variable Dearness Allowances (VI)A are also demanded,'' the JAC stated.
To solve the unemployment problem, a task force should be established to give jobs to the educated and uneducated unemployed youths of Manipur, the JAC president said.
Meanwhile, official sources said the Committee of Officers, headed by Chief Secretary Rakesh Sharma, was discussing the pay structure issue and the Finance Department had been asked to submit a detailed report on the issue.
