Kidnapped woman Software Engineer rescued, 3 arrested
Bangalore, Oct 21 (UNI) Police today rescued a woman Software Engineer of Wipro company after she was kidnapped and arrested three people in this connection.
Police said Ms Vijayalakshmi was returning home after work last evening when the driver of the maxi cab in which she was to be dropped at home and two others kidnapped her. They confined her in a lonely house on the outskirts of the city.
Later, the maxi cab driver, went to her house and informed her father that Ms Vijayalakshmi had been kidnapped and the culprits were demanding Rs three crore for her release. ''I somehow managed to escape, but they have kidnapped her and are demanding Rs three crore for her release,'' he told the woman's father.
Police who came to know about the incident, acted swiftly and started questioning the driver. During the interrogation, the driver received a call on his mobile phone from his accomplices. After a long search they succeeded in finding the house where Ms Vijayalakshmi was kept and rescued her.
Ms Vijayalakshmi, married and mother of three children, was to leave for Switzerland on official duty today.
The arrested included driver of the maxi cab Lakshmipathy, his accomplices Dilip and Gabbar.
Police are on the look out for two more culprits involved in the kidnapping.
